St. Louis Blues: Two years ago Brent Johnson won 34 games and was the goaltender of the future for the St. Louis Blues. On Monday he will be put on waivers and doesn't expect to be back, even if he clears and is sent down to AHL Worcester. "Hopefully, another team claims me off waivers and it's a fresh start for me," Johnson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Chicago Blackhawks: Alex Zhamnov, who is due to be an unrestricted free agent July 1, is one reason 14 scouts were at Thursday's game against Calgary, but he just wants to focus on his play on the ice. The Chicago captain is the highest-paid player on the team, so he'll become available whenever Blackhawks GM Bob Pulford throws in the towel on this season.

Toronto Maple Leafs: Ceremonies honoring players with a silver stick are usually footnotes to a game story. But Toronto's Gary Roberts deserves special attention Tuesday night when he plays in career game No. 1,000 because few people, including some doctors, never thought he could make it to 584 games.
