New York Yankees: Within 48 hours of collapsing at a function on Saturday, George Steinbrenner was back at work, reports Sam Borden of the New York Daily News. The focus for the Yankee owner is a backup first baseman and signing newly-acquired Javier Vazquez to a multi-year contract. Borden reports that the club has turned its attention away from the higher dollar first baseman and is focusing on players who wouldn't mind a subservient role to Jason Giambi. Eric Karros, Tony Clark and Andres Galarraga are names he suggests.
