American League
Boston Red Sox: No A-Rod? No problem. So opines Bob Ryan of the Boston Globe who believes the Sox are still a formidable beast even without the best player in the game. That is, if the deal is really dead. As for that, he'll believe it when he sees it.

Chicago White Sox: The alleged death of the Rodriguez-Ramirez deal has the ripple effect of keeping Magglio Ordonez in a White Sox uniform for the time being. It was rumored that he would be shipped to Boston for Nomar Garciaparra had A-Rod made the permanent trip to Boston. What this means for Chicago, writes Phil Rogers of the Tribune, is they will now renew talks with the Dodgers. Will they still be asking for Odalis Perez, Guillermo Mota and a prospect?
