Why to watch
It may be the most controversial national championship matchup since the inception of the Bowl Championship Series system six years ago and, depending on the outcome of USC and Michigan in the Rose Bowl, it could lead to a split decision. However, the 2003-'04 Sugar Bowl still sets up as one of the great defensive clashes in the history of college football. Oklahoma was the team to beat in throughout the first 15 weeks of the 2003 season, but LSU finished as the hottest team in the nation and is making no apologies for its invitation to play in the BCS's national championship game.
