Detroit Red Wings: Don't look now but Detroit's best player is not an over-30 veteran sure-thing future Hall of Famer. Pavel Datsyuk has more than filled the skates of the departed Sergei Fedorov and has even outscored the Mighty Ducks center so far this season.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Pavel Kubina is coming of age at 26. The Tampa Bay defenseman became the fifth player in franchise history to play 400 games with the team, and head coach John Tortorella said Kubina has been the Lightning's best player lately.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Eddie Olczyk's Penguins sit in the basement of the NHL standings, but Pittsburgh GM Craig Patrick said he believes his rookie coach has done a good job with the young Pens.
