With the Gary Sheffield negotiations on hold, the Yankees may finally get around to re-signing Andy Pettitte.
The only downside of this is that -- for those who agree with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer's Art Thiel's assessment of the Red Sox and Yankees as the "New York-Boston axis of evil" -- a big percentage of the news is coming from those two franchises. There is thunder remaining to be stolen by other teams, to be sure. Vladimir Guerrero could still land outside the New York-Boston corridor. Miguel Tejada, Rafael Palmeiro, Ivan Rodriguez and Greg Maddux all certainly will. Apart from Bartolo Colon signing with the Angels, at this juncture, the biggest stories continue to be generated by the biggest rivalry in the sport.
