We've got ourselves a brand new race to the Super Bowl as Showdown Sunday went a long way toward clearing up the playoff races, but tightened the lead group of teams competing for the top prize. The Eagles blowout of the suddenly struggling Cowboys was their eighth straight win and vaulted them from seventh to first overall in the Power Points. Their 400 yards of offense against the top ranked defense (at least by the NFL's rankings) improved their offense rating by two points. Holding the Cowboys to 75 passing yards and 10 points bumped their defense rating up over a full point.
The next four teams are all within one point of the Eagles as the Titans and Chiefs continued their slide while the surging Ravens and Rams edged slightly higher to ratings above seven points overall. The Patriots may have won nine straight games, but the only games they have dominated have been defensively. They have two shutouts over the span, but in each managed to only score 12 points. Their average margin of victory over their streak is just seven points. The Patriots defense ranks second overall behind the Ravens, but their offense struggles through mediocrity, ranking a below average 17th.
