How's this for confidence? At the 2002 draft, Columbus GM Doug MacLean told 18-year-old LW Rick Nash that he'd love to pick him. But Nash and D Jay Bouwmeester were rated as the top two picks, and the Blue Jackets were picking third behind the Panthers and Thrashers, so no way would Nash still be around at No.3.
