Denver Broncos: Kansas City Chiefs WR Eddie Kennison blasted his former team this week, taking pointed shots at coach Mike Shanahan. The tirade was believed to be because of a perceived lack of respect of his team from Broncos players and media, but now it appears there may be another reason Kennsion is so surly. Last year an arbitrator ordered Kennison to pay back the $500,000 signing bonus Denver gave him in 2001, after he quit the team, and according to the Denver Post the Broncos recently got back Kennison's bonus, as well as the salary-cap space it took up.

Miami Dolphins: LB Zach Thomas would love to play this Sunday against the New England Patriots, but a bum hip might keep him on the sidelines. The Miami Herald reports Thomas injured his hip in practice on Wednesday and is now listed as questionable. "I aggravated my hip yesterday," Thomas said in a statement. "I'm doing everything I can to get on the field, and it may be a game-day decision." Thomas spent a good deal of the day getting treatment for what coach Dave Wannstedt said was a ''twisted muscle.''

New York Jets: Disputing reports that he could choose to leave the team if his contract was not extended, coach Herman Edwards said that he was content with coaching the Jets and had no plans to go elsewhere. "I plan on being the coach here a long time," Edwards told the New York Times said. The reports stemmed from a story in the Newark Star-Ledger that claims there is an escape clause in Edwards' contract that he could exercise after this season if he does not get an extension. Edwards's contract does have a provision calling for the team to review the contract after this season, but it is not an escape clause, according to a league official familiar with it.
