Miami Dolphins: DT Tim Bowens strained his left calf in the first half of Thursday's game and didn't return. Bowens was dressed and out of the locker room before the end of the game. The Miami Herald reports that Bowens will have an MRI exam today to determine the extent of the damage. Bowens was able to walk off the field, and trainer Kevin O'Neill said he also made it to the team bus on his own. However, he was moving gingerly.

Jacksonville Jaguars: LB Keith Mitchell was waived Thursday after the team decided he could not mentally recover from a serious neck injury. Mitchell opened the season as a starter, but suffered the injury in the second game against Buffalo and momentarily lost feeling in his arms and legs. The Florida Times-Union reports that the Jags replaced him on the roster with S Ray Perryman, who was signed to the practice squad on Oct. 30. He was originally drafted on the fifth round in 2001 by the Oakland Raiders and played two games for the Ravens.

New York Jets: Disappointed with the play of rookie DT Dewayne Robertson, the club will limit his playing time hoping the rest will give him the energy to make plays, something he hasn't been able to do with any consistency this year. Though he made a critical play in last Sunday's win over Jacksonville, he's managed only four tackles in 105 plays over the last two games. DT Josh Evans, who made his 2003 debut last week after returning from a drug suspension, will see more action on first and second down Monday night against the Titans (9-2), according to the New York Daily News. This doesn't mean the Jets consider Robertson a bust. Team officials are still confident that he has the skills to become a dominant player in the NFL. "He's playing a lot of different guards, and he doesn't have a lot to fall back on when he plays these guys," coach Herman Edwards said. "It's all new to him . . . He's learning as he goes. Sometimes he gets frustrated. That's okay. He's going to learn from this and become a much better player next year."
