Garcia could be in for rough return

With the Ravens' D next up and guard Ron Stone ailing, 49ers QB Jeff Garcia shouldn't rush back from injury.

For those who were convinced that Tim Rattay was the answer for a struggling Jeff Garcia, Sunday was an awakening of sorts.

Aside from a pretty 24-yard touchdown pass to Terrell Owens, he looked bad. He was sacked four times and it became obvious that unless he's getting excellent protection he's going to have problems completing passes. In a hostile environment on the road and under a substantial rush, Rattay completed under 50 percent of his passes.

That performance, combined with the improving health of Garcia, means that could've been Rattay's last start of the season. Coach Dennis Erickson announced Monday that if Garcia is healthy enough to play, he'll get the nod against the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday.
