Raycroft looking like a keeper
The biggest reason for the Bruins' fast start has been the work of goaltenders Andrew Raycroft and Felix Potvin.
Like last season, the Bruins again are off to a fast start at 11-2-3-3 to lead the Eastern Conference. And their 28 points are tied with Vancouver for top spot in the NHL, although Boston has played one fewer game.
Dec. 10 was the beginning of the end of the Bruins' 2002-03 season. They'd started 18-4-3-1, but then won just 18 of the next 56 games. Although they'd manage to make the playoffs, the Bruins lost confidence, couldn't rediscover that early-season magic, fired coach Robbie Ftorek and were quickly eliminated in the first round by eventual Stanley Cup champion New Jersey.
