Jacksonville Jaguars: Though he has yet to play in a game, WR Kevin Johnson has the team buzzing after an impressive practice that was highlighted by a one-handed catch. "It was an out route and the ball was behind me and I tried to reach back and catch it, which I did," Johnson told the Florida Times-Union. "I told him [rookie QB Byron Leftwich] that you have to have confidence that the receivers are going to go out and get the ball regardless of where he puts it." Coach Jack Del Rio said the Jaguars will put together a package of plays for Johnson to use Sunday against the New York Jets.
New England Patriots: The team just signed WR J.J. Stokes to bolster their receiving corps, but they might have another move up their sleeve. According to the Boston Herald the Pats are considering bringing WR Dedric Ward back to New England. Ward, who cleared waivers after being cut by Baltimore on Tuesday, was signed by the Patriots over the summer only to be released at the end of training camp. Ward is familiar with the offensive coordinator Charlie Weis' scheme, not only from his brief stint with the Pats but also from his days in New York when Weis was the Jets coordinator.
