NFL Power Points: AFC rules

Just give the Lombardi Trophy to the AFC now. That's what the Power Points say as the top six teams are all in the American Conference. The Chiefs first, and perhaps only, loss of the season lowers them just below the Titans in the overall ratings. But both teams are still almost a touchdown better than the third-place Patriots. Possibly the most bizarre AFC team is the Jaguars. They are starting a rookie quarterback, have won just two games all year, but are ranked 15th by the Power Points. They beat the fourth-ranked Colts two weeks ago, lost to the now 8-2 Panthers by just one point, and in Week 11 held the top-ranked Titans to just 10 points while forcing three turnovers pointing to a defensive improvement. They are shaping up to be one team that potential playoff teams do not want to face.
Using the current Power Points, we can project the remainder of the season for wins and losses to see how the playoff picture is shaping up. One shouldn't put too much faith in these projections, but it can be entertaining to get a sneak peak at how the playoff picture could shape up.
