Denver should place faith in ground game

Now that the Broncos have their starting QB healthy, they'll start to concentrate on running the ball more.

Without QB Jake Plummer, the Denver Broncos playoff hopes have been evaporating faster than a puddle in the desert, but they'll get the seven-year veteran back this Sunday as they face off against the 2-7 San Diego Chargers.

The Broncos hope to end their three-game losing streak and push their way back into the wildcard picture, and Plummer should help resurrect a passing game that's been utterly ineffective in his absence.

The combination of Steve Beuerlein and Danny Kanell has combined for four touchdowns and eight interceptions in the four games since Plummer's foot injury. Plummer only threw three picks in his five games, and three of those came in the season opener. Plummer also averaged seven yards per pass attempt, almost two-and-a-half yards more than the less-than-dynamic duo.
