Expectations are so high in Ottawa that only a near-perfect start would satisfy fans and observers of the Senators this season. The Senators have been anything but perfect, however, and concern might grow into a panic if the team doesn't turn things around soon.

A 5-3 victory at Atlanta on Tuesday night that ended a five-game winless streak was a good start for Ottawa's attempt to climb out of the Northeast Division cellar. At 6-4-2-1, the Senators are tied with Montreal for 10th in the Eastern Conference and hardly have looked like the team that dominated the 2002-03 regular season.

"We've worked harder in the last three games, for sure," Senators defenseman Wade Redden told The Ottawa Citizen. "We're playing a little better positionally, we're a little more intense and it was a sharper game (Tuesday) when you look at everything at the end of the night. It's a confidence thing. It's good to get that feeling back, but we're not out of the woods yet."
