Baltimore Orioles: Is it possible to have too many choices? The Baltimore Orioles will make freshly-fired Red Sox manager Grady Little the eighth interviewee for their vacant manager's job. Either this means they like having a lot to choose from or the previous seven candidates didn't blow them out of their shoes. Joe Christensen of the Baltimore Sun reports that Little actually interviewed with the O's the last time they were looking for a skipper.

Chicago White Sox: Frank Thomas has decided to return and that is going to gum up the salary works a bit for general manager Ken Williams writes Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune. The Sox have over 80 percent of their payroll tied up in seven players, leaving just $5-10 million left over to compensate the other 18 men on the roster. Greenstein speculates that one or more of the following must be traded if the team is to have any flexibility at all next year: Billy Koch, Magglio Ordonez, Paul Konerko, Thomas, Carlos Lee, Esteban Loaiza and Mark Buehrle. As Greenstein points out, Thomas has a no-trade clause and Konerko's value plummeted greatly with his miserable 2004 showing, meaning one of the others would have to be dispatched.
