New York Jets: The club announced Wednesday that rookie LB Victor Hobson will get his first career start Sunday against the Giants. Hobson will replace LB Mo Lewis, who has a sore hip. Lewis, a 13-year veteran, had a magnetic resonance imaging test, and even though it came back negative, he is still listed as questionable. Hobson has been rotating with Lewis for the last three games, ever since coach Herman Edwards decided during the bye week to work some younger players into the lineup. In that time Hobson has had seven tackles and one sack, and has played adequately. "He was fair," Cottrell told the New York Times, referring to Hobson's recent play. "Right now, he's looking like most rookies, he's so worried about not making mistakes."
Green Bay Packers: Coach Mike Sherman is well aware of the importance of Sunday's matchup with division leading Minnesota, and closed his team's practice to the media. Sherman cited the main reason as his desire to avoid the "media circus" that would surely surround QB Brett Favre and his injured right thumb. But he also said that he wanted to keep some changes he's implementing this week under wraps. "We did some things in the off-week that we want to take a look at that for whatever reason we just want to keep it our own business at this present time," Sherman told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
