Philadelphia Eagles: With DT Hollis Thomas out for the rest of the season with a torn left biceps tendon, the club signed veteran DT Jim Flanigan. The nine-year vet signed a one-year deal Tuesday, but coach Andy Reid said he had not decided whether Flanigan would play Sunday in Atlanta. "I've got fresh legs, that's for sure," Flanigan told the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I've just been working out for the last couple of months, so I'm ready to go. I haven't hit anybody in a long time, so I'm itching to do it." Flanigan, 32, was with the San Francisco 49ers in training camp but was released before the season started.

New York Jets: An MRI Tuesday confirmed that DE John Abraham has a strained right groin, which will keep him out of Sunday's game against the Giants. The good news is that the injury isn't as severe as some people initially thought. Following Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles coach Herman Edwards suggested that Abraham could be out for a while, but now Abraham will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis and he could possibly play Nov. 9 when the Jets travel to Oakland.
