Denver Broncos: WR Rod Smith was fined $20,000 for erroneously landing a wild punch on umpire Undrey Wash on Monday night, according to the Denver Post. On the same day, the Broncos were penalized $25,000 for violating a previously agreed-upon dress code for their Sept. 14 game at San Diego.

DT Daryl Gardener might not be able to play Sunday against Detroit. Coach Mike Shanahan said Gardener continues to experience pain in his surgically repaired right wrist. "I was talking to him right at the end of practice, and he's still hurting a little bit," Shanahan said. "We're going to do what's right so we can have him in the long run."
