New York Rangers: The Rangers haven't had much good news this preseason, but defenseman Brian Leetch sounded optimistic about his return from an ankle injury. Leetch, who missed 31 games last season with an injury to the same ankle, said he expects to be back sooner than the 11 weeks he missed in 2002-03.

St. Louis Blues: Chris Osgood is getting more preseason starts than he expected. But the Blues netminder is glad so he can get games like the 5-0 clunker loss to the Stars on Tuesday night over with.

Ottawa Senators: Chris Phillips came up big for Ottawa in the playoffs last season, especially so with his memorable Game 6 overtime goal against New Jersey in the Eastern Conference finals. Now Phillips wants to be that good for all 82 games and the playoffs.
