Miami Dolphins: Veteran C Tim Ruddy's arthroscopic surgery on his left knee could keep him
out as many as six weeks. "There were some structures in the knee that were
prohibiting movement," Ruddy told the Miami Herald after Tuesday's
procedure. "It actually feels better now than it had in the past few
weeks." In his placed, the Dolphins will start second-year man Seth
McKinney. "Seth has had a great training camp and he's done very well when
he's in there," o-line coach Tony Wise said. "For playing for the first time
there are things he's got to learn to react to better, but it's not for a
lack of effort, lack of talent or lack of knowledge. This is part of the
reason we've worked him in there."
New York Jets: How committed are the Jets to QB Vinny Testaverde? According to the New
York Post, not very, especially if the losses continue to mount. The Post
reports that highly placed sources inside the organization have revealed
that the Jets are a loss, maybe two, away from making rookie Brooks
Bollinger their starting quarterback until Chad Pennington returns from his
fractured left wrist injury. The move would seem to make sense since
Testaverde is older than Methuselah and the Jets want to see if Bollinger
would be a good choice as Pennington's future backup.
Washington Redskins: CB Champ Bailey was scheduled to meet with a doctor Tuesday to go over
X-rays of his left hand and wrist. According to the Washington Post, Bailey
might have suffered a tiny fracture -- perhaps a chip fracture -- in his
hand but should be able to play with the injury. Bailey had the hand and
wrist heavily wrapped as he left Redskins Park yesterday. On Monday, he
indicated that he planned to play in Sunday's game against the New England
Patriots and he said that still is the plan even if even if a fracture was
found. The three-time Pro Bowler also sprained his left shoulder during the
Giants game.
