Detroit Red Wings: Just call Red Wings defenseman Derian Hatcher the king of anti-climax. When the NHL could use any hype it can get, the party pooper plans to play in Detroit's exhibition game Saturday at Dallas to get his first game against his old team over with. New Jersey Devils: John Madden wishes some other New Jersey forwards would step up and take some of his ice time. The checking center had to provide an offensive role last season and will have to again unless somebody else makes it unnecessary. Philadelphia Flyers: With two screws still in his foot from surgery to repair a broken bone, Eric Desjardins didn't take it easy in his first game back since the playoffs. The Flyers' best defensemen led all Philadelphia players in ice time Friday against New Jersey.
