Buffalo Sabres: Although Miroslav Satan faces an Oct. 8 deadline to stop playing for a pro team in Slovakia, but the Sabres star isn't too worried about losing that leverage in contract negotiations with Buffalo. The restricted free agent and Sabres leading scorer said he'll simply skate with a lower-tier team to stay in shape.

Dallas Stars: Kurt Overhardt, the agent for restricted free agent goalie Marty Turco, gave the Stars some new proposals Monday in their contract negotiations. The three-year deals are in the $4 million to $4.5 million range with bonuses if he continues to be an elite NHL goalie, according to The (Dallas) Morning News.

Toronto Maple Leafs: In his first full season with the Maple Leafs, Owen Nolan hopes to make up for his conspicuous failure to contribute positively during Toronto's first-round loss to Philadelphia.
