American League
Baltimore Orioles: It was supposed to be one of the feel good stories of 2003: journeyman utility guy wins American League batting title. Instead, Melvin Mora's season has been hampered by injuries, the latest of which the team is keeping mum about. Joe Christensen of the Baltimore Sun reports that he is on crutches and looks about done in for the rest of 2003. However, the team is not revealing just how extensive the injury is.

Detroit Tigers: The news around the big club has been grim, so what's the word from the Tigers' minor league system? A mixed bag, actually. Joanne C. Gerstner of the Detroit News examines the 2003 results of the Tigers farm clubs and what they mean for the future of the team and what will be done to upgrade the system.
