Lupul adds talent and scoring touch

Joffrey Lupul believes there is a spot to be taken in the Ducks' lineup if he can play his best in training camp.

Cracking the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim lineup got a lot tougher since the team made a surprising run to the Stanley Cup finals last season.

But Anaheim's 2002 first-round draft choice (seventh overall) Joffrey Lupul believes there's a spot to be taken if he can play his best during a rookie tournament going on now and when training camp starts next week.

Although the Mighty Ducks more than made up for the losses of winger Paul Kariya and center Adam Oates by signing free agents Vaclav Prospal and Sergei Fedorov, forwards Mike Leclerc, Dan Bylsma and Steve Rucchin are recovering from surgeries, Andy McDonald is still recovering from the effects of a concussion and Steve Thomas wasn't re-signed.
