Waltrip suddenly has ground to make up

In Michael Waltrip's mostly mediocre career, this year has been the aberration. The question now is if the last two weeks were an aberration, or a sign that his career year is starting to unravel.
After a seventh-place finish at Michigan on Aug. 17, Waltrip was fifth in the championship standings and within striking distance of the top three. Two nightmarish races later, Waltrip is in serious jeopardy of falling out of the top 10 for the first time all season.
