Illinois
Carey Davis, a contender for All-Big Ten fullback honors, will miss the Illini's opener against Missouri and could be out longer. The senior from the St. Louis area is expected to be out 10 days to three weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to clean up a sore left knee.
He will be replaced by sophomore Jason Davis, also from St. Louis but no relation. Jason Davis is in the pass-catching mold of Carey Davis and their predecessor, Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jameel
Cook. Two of Jason Davis' four catches in 2002 were for touchdowns.
