Esteban Loaiza has gone from career journeyman to Cy Young candidate in less than a season. The Chicago White Sox starter pitched a gem in Tuesday's battle of division leaders at Yankee Stadium -- seven scoreless innings and one hit in a 13-2 win. He's tied for the AL lead in wins (17-6) and is third in ERA (2.51).
But last offseason, nobody wanted Loaiza. I know, because we have the same agent, San Diego-based John Boggs. I remember being in Boggs' office last winter, and he was scrambling to find Loaiza a job.
