Boston Red Sox: Bob Hohler of the Boston Globe reports that the Red Sox might be interested in acquiring Mike Bordick from the Toronto Blue Jays. Bordick would be used in a secondary role as the team fights for a Wildcard slot with the A's and/or Mariners. A University of Maine graduate, Boston would seem an ideal locale for Bordick. There is no word on what the Blue Jays want in exchange, although general manager J.P. Ricciardi promises he will not be giving him away.

Kansas City Royals: Let's give the Royals credit for one thing: they are not going down without trying. Yesterday they added Rondell White to their attack as they continue to push for the playoffs. The previous day they traded for Brian Anderson of the Indians and he came up big with a win last night in his Kansas City debut. Bob Dutton of the Star reports that general manager Allard Baird might not be done dealing. "I'm on a lot of radar screens," he told Dutton. "You don't talk your way into the playoffs. You don't hope your way into the playoffs. Chemistry is huge. Belief is huge. But when it's all said and done, you have to have talent."
