Junior quarterback Quinton Porter will start BC's season opener on Saturday
against Wake Forest, winning a close competition against junior college
transfer Paul Peterson. Peterson seemed to have the advantage in the quarterback
derby after completing 20-of-26 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns in an
intrasquad scrimmage a week ago. But BC coach Tom O'Brien picked Porter
primarily because of the experience he gained during two seasons as Brian St.
Pierre's backup. "He had a huge advantage being here for two years," O'Brien said.
"One of the biggest disadvantages Peterson had was his grasp of the
offense...Right now I think (Porter) gives us the best chance to win the football game."
