Hedberg deal leaves net crowded

Besides getting a backup goaltender with NHL experience it needed with Monday's trade for Johan Hedberg, the Vancouver Canucks obtained someone capable of stepping in if Dan Cloutier falters or gets hurt.
"This will be treated by a lot of people in the media like it's minor, but I don't think it is at all," Canucks general manager Brian Burke told Vancouver media. "He's a proven goaltender. He will back up Dan, but he will push Dan."
Burke reiterated his support for Cloutier, a favorite whipping boy among Canucks fans because of his postseason struggles, but Hedberg brings much-needed security and a mindset of a starter.
