American League
Chicago White Sox: Usually, you let the veteran face the monsters and the kid face the punchboards. Not so with the White Sox this week. Mark Buehrle will have his Thursday start pushed back to Friday, meaning he will face the Tigers instead of the Yankees. In his place will be 23-year old rookie Neal Cotts. Buehrle is not amused, reports Joe Goddard of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Detroit Tigers: Don't write off Steve Sparks just yet. The Tigers designated him for assignment and, for any other 38-year old, that might seem like a career death sentence. For a knuckleballer, however, there is always hope that the pitch will start knuckling again. Tom Gage of the Detroit News reports that Sparks had a feeling something was in the air.
