LAST SEASON: 11-3 (6-2 ACC)

Not buying that Maryland is one of college football's inner circle? What, that ACC-best 21-5 over the past two years doesn't do much for you? How about that they're one of six programs (with Oklahoma, Miami, Texas, Washington State and Marshall) to win at least 10 games in '01 and '02? Still no sale? Well, then you won't be impressed by QB Scott McBrien. All he did was throw for nearly 2,500 yards and 15 TDs in '02, and now he's had a full year starting in Ralph Friedgen's system.
