Fans in Atlanta feeling optimistic

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - In one of the most amazing statistics in recent NFL history, the Atlanta Falcons, over the 37 seasons of their existence, have never posted consecutive winning campaigns.

On the eight previous occasions in which Atlanta registered a winning record, the club always failed to build on the momentum. The collective records in the years following winning seasons was 44-80, an anemic winning percentage of just .355, and the best the Falcons ever accomplished after a season on the black side of the ledger book was a 7-7 mark in 1972. The last two times the Falcons were above the break-even point, the club followed up their success with just three and five wins, respectively.
