Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Backup MLB Nate Webster is now taking reps on the outside in an effort to
get more playing time. "Here's a guy who is an outstanding player,'' Gruden
said. "He just happens to be standing next to [Shelton] Quarles right now
and it's very difficult to dislodge Shelton because of the way he plays.''
According to linebackers coach Joe Barry this move doesn't reflect poorly on
OLB Dwayne Rudd. "There's nothing wrong with shaking things up a little
bit,'' Barry told the Tampa Tribune. "Nate Webster's a hell of a football
player. Any way that we can find or create new ways to get him on the field,
it's going to help our defense."
Jacksonville Jaguars: Monday brought a familiar sight to Jags' camp. Yet another player collapsed
at practice and hat to be attended to. OL Daryl Terrell dropped out of
yesterday morning's practice and had to be iced down and given fluids for
more than 30 minutes. However, coach Jack Del Rio said Terrell was
suffering from a stomach virus and insisted his condition was unrelated to
the heat. "He was struggling through the night," Del Rio told the Florida
Times-Union. "It wasn't heat-related. It was [virus]-related. It was a
matter of his stomach being upset."
New York Jets: Though he only has one assisted tackle on his professional football resume,
coach Herman Edwards says that first-round pick DT Dewayne Robertson is
playing well. "Sometimes he flashes and you don't see the little things
he's doing to allow some other guys to make some plays," Edwards told the
New York Post. "With linemen you see flash when they make a sack or tackle a
guy behind the line of scrimmage. [Robertson] is causing some havoc where
other guys are making plays because of it. He's a work in progress."
