Judging by their mutual lack of enthusiasm, the New York Rangers and head coaching candidate Larry Robinson don't appear headed to a union.

As a result, Rangers general manager Glen Sather will likely continue his dual role as coach that he assumed after firing rookie head coach Bryan Trottier in the middle of last season.

Robinson, who interviewed with Sather last week in Toronto, has said he had made up his mind whether he was interested in the job and told the New York Daily News on Tuesday that he'd left messages with Sather that weren't returned.
