St. Louis Blues: St. Louis continued to try to cut salary Wednesday when it placed winger Valeri Bure on waivers. If nobody claims Bure, the Blues will still be on the hook for at least half of his $3.1 million salary. Another possibility is Bure returning to Florida if the Blues buy out his contract. Toronto Maple Leafs: Jyrki Lumme's 15-year NHL career is likely over. The Toronto Maple Leafs will buy out the final year of his contract, leaving the team with three NHL-caliber defenseman. Montreal Canadiens: Canadiens goalie Jose Theodore's father was arrested with 15 others Wednesday in connection with alleged loansharking in Montreal.
