Tampa Bay Buccaneers: RB Michael Pittman's probation violation hearing, originally scheduled for
today in Tempe, Ariz., has been moved to July 2. According to the Tampa
Tribune, Pittman's attorney, Phil Noland, was granted a continuance because
of a court conflict. Pittman, who is serving a three-year probation after
misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and criminal damage in 2001, also
has a hearing scheduled Thursday where his lawyer is expected to enter
not-guilty pleas on two felony charges of aggravated assault. If Pittman is
found to have violated his probation he could be jailed until the he awaits
a trial. Should he be found guilty on those two counts, Pittman faces at
least five years in prison. Even if he pleads down to lesser charges,
Pittman is facing possible jail time and a certain NFL suspension.
Miami Dolphins: WR Oronde Gadsden is still a man without a team, but that could all change
very soon. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that sources close to the
receiver say he is still likely to return to the Dolphins by the end of the
week. Other veterans have been told they should expect Gadsden to be back.
Gadsden was flirting with the Jacksonville Jaguars but the recent signing of
J.J. Stokes again makes the Dolphins seemingly his best and only option.
Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles obviously believe there is no such thing as having too many
defensive backs on their roster, and Tuesday they signed CB Daryon Brutley
to a two-year contract, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Financial
terms were not disclosed. Brutley, 24, played with the Berlin Thunder of
NFL Europe and recorded two interceptions and 20 tackles and seven
passes-defensed. Brutley signed with the Buffalo Bills last year as an
undrafted free agent, but he was released during the preseason.
