Everybody loved the Hollywood story of the Mighty Ducks' unlikely run to the Stanley Cup finals this year, but it's always difficult coming up with a sequel as good as the original. Better is even more rare and this offseason will be crucial in determining whether Anaheim can compete with the Western Conference elite and get that one extra victory it needed to capture the Cup. Although Anaheim general manager Bryan Murray won't have to remake the roster as much as he did after taking over after the 2001-02 season (the Ducks had 12 new players on their playoff roster who weren't with the team a year earlier), the team will pay for its success in the way of raises to a number of key players, starting with star goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere.
