By Wednesday afternoon, former goalie Grant Fuhr will head the 2003 class for induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Five Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers and the fifth most victories among goalies all time make him a sure thing in his first year of eligibility.
"I hope so, but nothing is a shoo-in," Fuhr told the Edmonton Sun on Tuesday. "We're usually the last to know, but, honestly, I haven't thought about it too much."
Fuhr had a 403-295-114 record, 25 shutouts and a 3.37 goals-against average in 868 games with the Oilers, Maple Leafs, Sabres, Kings, Blues and Flames. He was 92-50 with six shutouts and a 2.92 GAA in 150 playoff games.
