Montreal hopes familiar face can bring change

If anyone can restore the magic to the Montreal Canadiens, it's new general manager and executive vice president Bob Gainey.

The former Canadiens captain was hired Monday to take over for Andre Savard, who will remain as assistant GM.

During a superb playing career, in which he won five Stanley Cups and was considered the best defensive forward in the world, Gainey embodied the spirit of the Canadiens and learned how to run a winning team from masters such as former Habs GM Sam Pollock and former coach Scotty Bowman.
