Wigginton can't field; Phillips can't hit

  • From what I've seen, the Mets' Ty Wigginton can't play second base. He's been shaky at third, and I don't think he's be any better at second. I suppose in the short term you could put him there. But he's shown slow reaction time and doesn't move well enough to play the middle infield. He's a thick, stocky guy, and his hands are just average at best. Can throw, but he's not always accurate. He needs a lot of work in all (defensive) phases.
