Kansas City Royals: He's not racking up the kind of
numbers that are going to win him the Rookie of the
Year trophy, but designated hitter Ken Harvey often
comes through in the clutch for the Royals, writes
Dick Kaegel of the Kansas City Star. When you look the
way Harvey does, chances are you're pretty good
because otherwise, you'd never get past scouts'
natural tendency to shy away from
non-athletically-built types.
Tampa Bay Devil Rays: Ben Grieve is due off the
disabled list today and that means somebody is going
to have to stop wearing the Tampa Bay uniform in order
to make room for him, writes Scott Carter of the Tampa
Tribune. Possible candidates named by Carter are Jared
Sandberg, Jim Parque, Damian Easley or Terry Shumpert.
One player who is having a wail of a bad year so far
is Carl Crawford. Aside from stealing at a good
percentage, nothing is going right with his offensive
game.
