Some might point to Stu Barnes' disallowed goal Monday night and say the Dallas Stars were ousted by officials and not the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 2003 playoffs.

Yeah, and Brett Hull's skate was in the crease on his clinching goal against Buffalo in Game 6 of the 1999 Stanley Cup finals. Them's the breaks; they have a way of evening out.

In Anaheim's 4-3 victory in Game 6, events had a way of evening out as well. On Barnes' non-goal, which would have tied the game at 3-3 midway through the third period, the net was barely dislodged before the puck went in the net and the goal was disallowed. The replay officials followed the rule, which states that the net must be on the ice, no matter how silly it looks.
