Indianapolis Colts: Barring any setbacks, RB Dominic Rhodes, who underwent reconstructive surgery to repair two torn ligaments in his right knee last August, anticipates his right knee being strong enough to endure some degree of work during the team's summer school, which runs May 19 through June 12. But
Rhodes plan on being back to full strength when training camp opens July 27.
"That's when I plan on being Dominic," Rhodes told the Indianapolis Star.
"That's when I'll be that guy who hits holes, is a little jitterbug, makes
people look crazy out there. You'll see me like I was."
Jacksonville Jaguars: DE Tony Brackens backed up his desire to remain in Jacksonville Thursday by agreeing to a sizable pay cut for this year. According to the Florida Times-Union, Brackens, who underwent microfracture surgery last year, gave the Jaguars more than $4 million in instant salary-cap relief by reducing his $5.5 million base salary in 2003 to less than $1.5 million. It came on
the same day QB Mark Brunell said he would refuse any request to take a drop in salary. "I'm not going to take a pay cut," Brunell told the paper. "I wouldn't do that."
New York Jets: The team signed free-agent K Danny Kight, formerly a kickoff specialist for the Colts and Ravens, to compete with Doug Brien, according to the New York Daily News.
