Few people were believing high sticks were the only reason Philadelphia's Ken Hitchcock called the Ottawa Senators a dirty team for drawing blood a few times in Game 2, but the Flyers coach was sticking with his story.
Hitchcock cited a few instances of Senators stickwork, including Ottawa right winger Martin Havlat's high stick on Flyers defenseman Kim Johnsson that required 25 stitches around his right eye.
"The thing that bothers me is the careless use of the sticks. Claude Lapointe got cross-checked right over the back of the head on a breakaway. It's the same player [Havlat], so either put your stick down or deal with the consequences. I don't care if you're the world's greatest hockey player, put your bloody stick down and play the game the right way.
