The Packers had their eye on Florida quarterback Rex Grossman, but the division rival Chicago Bears took him seven slots before Green Bay was on the clock. There were still many signal-callers available in what was thought to be a very deep draft, but apparently the Miker Sherman was content with Craig Nall as Favre's understudy. That move could backfire on them, because even though they're expected to struggle whenever Favre hangs them up, they could sustain the blow much better if they had a starting caliber quarterback ready in the wings.
