Tampa Bay Lightning: The Lightning knew Devils checker supreme John Madden would be out against Tampa Bay's top line in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Still, Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Vaclav Prospal and the Lightning had no answer to the challenge while losing 3-0 Thursday night.
Anaheim Mighty Ducks: Anaheim head coach Mike Babcock breaks down the game into simple segments: skate, pass, battle, defend. The Mighty Ducks are proving that if you do all of these things well, success will follow.
St. Louis Blues: Given a couple of days to assess his team after blowing a 3-1 series lead and losing in seven games to the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues GM Larry Pleau wouldn't give a vote of confidence to coach Joel Quenneville but said "there are players on this team that won't be on this team next season."
