Jags may snag Leftwich from Ravens

The Jacksonville Jaguars seem to have some sort of infatuation with the
Baltimore Ravens. They hired Jack Del Rio, a former Ravens linebackers
coach, interviewed Ravens player personnel director Phil Savage, hired James
Harris away from the Blackbirds to be their VP of player personnel. Now,
they seem to covet the man the Ravens most want in this year's draft.
The Jaguars seem to have set their cap for quarterback Byron Leftwich. It
doesn't seem to make much sense that a team installing a West Coast
offense would want an immobile quarterback who predominantly ran a shotgun
offense in college, but there are legitimate reasons for their affinity with the Marshall
product.
First, if Leftwich hadn't broken his leg twice in the last two years he
could have been the first pick in the draft. It's tough to pass on talent
like that at No. 8. Leftwich couldn't participate in the NFL Scouting
Combine in February and didn't work out for pro scouts until after he
recovered from his latest injury in April. The Jaguars sent five scouts
to that workout and have let it slip that they are seriously considering him
with the No. 8 pick in this weekend's NFL Draft.
